Industry Lab is looking for a Community + Events Manager to join our small-but-mighty management team. Working with the Director, the C+E Manager will serve as a barometer of our community and coordinate events and initiatives to enrich our space. This position is full-time with a competitive salary, health insurance, and 401K and professional development benefits.

At Industry Lab we curate our community for diversity with recent grads, startups, artists, freelancers, and small businesses of all types.  Unlike other coworking spaces, everyone at IL has a dedicated desk so our community is built on people we know and trust. We want to encourage collaborations among some of the smartest and friendliest folks in town so we work hard to keep our space affordable and layout flexible.

Curious about what you’d be doing? Check out some of the responsibilities of the role below:

Being the catalyst for a great relationship between Industry Lab and its residents. 

  • Creatively encourage positive community behavior and cultivate connections between residents.

  • Have your ear to the ground and know what’s going on, good or bad.

  • Curate membership for diverse disciplines, participatory attitudes, and continuous opportunities for collaboration.

Maximizing and managing the use of the Industry Lab event space.

  • Onboard event hosts and manage training protocol, pricing system, and feedback funnel.

  • Plan and execute monthly internal events to build, engage, and entertain the Industry Lab resident community.

  • Program external events that engage Industry Lab with surrounding neighborhoods and communities. 

  • Manage event set-up and breakdown.

Overseeing a stand-out Artist-in-Residence program.

  • Keep seasonal records of Artists and exhibits.

  • Work directly with the IL Director to manage the residency promotion, application and selection process, and the artists themselves while they work at IL.

  • Fine-tune residency guidelines to grow with the IL community as needed.

  • Direct artists through the residency season to reach personal and professional goals while engaging IL residents. 

  • Research, develop, and manage relationships with potential program sponsors and promoters. 

Exciting the IL community and beyond about our events, news, and mission.

  • Promote IL to internal and external communities via both web and print channels, such as newsletters, website calendars, printed flyers, and social media. 

  • Share important news and events, resident and alumni accomplishments, and updates with residents through electronic and in-person communication.

  • Manage Industry Lab residents’ calendar and a public calendar.

Aiding in the day-to-day tasks that keep Industry Lab afloat.

  • Respond to urgent building or community concerns.

  • Help to maintain the machine shop; focusing on safety and functionality.

  • Maintain a well-run, clean, and organized office.

  • When things stop working (e.g. wifi, plumbing, no coffee or snacks, dirty dishes), work with the team to fix it and figure out how to make it better next time.

  • Help new residents move in, arrange their spaces, and feel at home.

  • When necessary, assist with small repairs around the building, such as replacing light bulbs, mounting shelves/art, painting, moving equipment, etc.

  • Co-manage building and workspace renovations with IL team, landlord, and contractors.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the IL Director.

Collaborating with the team to expand the Industry Lab resident network.

  • Generate and process prospective resident leads.

  • Give tours to prospective residents that address their unique interests and workstyles.

  • Build and maintain social media channels to extend online presence.

  • Initiate and maintain relationships with community arts, education, and technology organizations. 

  • Attend occasional networking events.

  • You have an ability to collaborate with diverse teammates and work independently.

  • You have worked in a startup or love small teams and that have an “all hands on deck” feeling. 

  • You like dogs - yes, we’re serious! Industry Lab is a dog-friendly workplace. 

  • You can to lift 50 lbs, bend, stretch, climb stairs, reach, twist, and walk.

  • You are comfortable getting your hands dirty (literally and metaphorically) and wearing many hats.

  • Bonus points if you have professional experience with social media, marketing or grant writing.
